Iran, Snow, Travel

Today, a group of nice people and I traveled to a beautiful snow-covered field away from Tehran to experience some fun walking and to have some snow-games. It was a day of reunion with nature. The snow-covered virgin mountains were calm and beautiful. We walked under the strong shining sun, through the deep snow, in the vast field that reached the mountains from every side. We then resided for a couple of hours at a more suitable place. It was a more dynamic field which had in its possession a half-built house, some old trees and a good hill for sliding down. We settled down and enjoyed many activities. We imitated skiing by sliding down the slope using two big tractor tubes we had brought with us, threw snow-balls at each other in two groups, warmed our shoes, our sucks, and our feet around a nice little fire while having lunch, took lots of pictures, competed over making our most beautiful snowman, and enjoyed a nice bowl of thick soup (Aash). We basically spread our energy in every direction possible.
I have always wished to have a “whole” experience in my trips and travels. I had always looked carefully at my surroundings to see how people take charge of the environment they reside in and honor its potentials while having fun. Today had looked promising. The energy the nature fulfilled me with was relaxing. Its moderate mix with everyone’s personalizations made my overall experience fun and inviting for further similar experiences in the future.
Several things were more fun to watch through-out the day: The path we walked in was challenging, in the sense that by making each step forward, it was possible to sink in the soft snow up to knees or sometimes waist, or to fall down, which by the end had severely but in a fun way frustrated most of us. This issue on its own had brought creative solutions to our minds. I, for example, walked on my knees to avoid sinking. Besides the walking experience, the tube-riding was fun but alerting. Tube-riding, the very dangerous activity common in snow-covered hills in Iran, which becomes seriously hazardous at some points, should be considered cautiously. Thankfully, those riding the tubes down the hill, including me, survived and nothing bad happened.
I really enjoyed todays’ experience. I look forward to more in the future. Many lessons are learned in such circumstances. You get to test your endurance and ability to have fun in a social environment.
Oh the wonders that happen when being with an open-minded and excited group in beautiful nature!
